My House and Its Incredibly Quiet Rooms

posted on 9 July 2011

The TV can be full blast in the living room and you wouldn't know it if you're in the kitchen. There could be a party downstairs and you could go to sleep upstairs, oblivious to it. It's all thanks to lead sheeting that's been applied all over the house. It makes such a difference - my kids can study in peace and quiet in their rooms without us disturbing them, or alternatively listen to loud music without disturbing us. I hated telling my kids to "keep it down" when they had friends round (they were just having a laugh in their rooms) - now I don't need to. I've lived in some houses in the past that positively leaked - sometimes I even though amplified! - sound. Noise pollution is a terrible thing - it can ruin someone's concentration, or their sleep. Now we've found our "quiet home" I don't see us ever moving out to a new home - we love our peace and quiet here.

Renovations Can Certainly Add Value to Your Property

Making DIY plans about our property is all very well, but unless we have the budget we cannot do anything. I'm very fond of renovating the house and usually keep on doing something to give it a new look, even small things like adding velcro attachments to curtains or varnishing the wooden furniture in the house. Though mine is a small house still I want to renovate it in such a way that it looks spacious and big. I have decided to keep the minimum furniture required and make wardrobes in all rooms to keep things. The living room needs to be renovated in such a way that it looks spacious and something different. I have also collected different types of wall hangings which I will display in the house after renovations. The kitchen also needs to be renovated for which I'm accumulating funds. The kitchen will be made modular and cupboards will be made in the kitchen to keep things. The tiling in the kitchen also needs to be changed so that the kitchen looks stylish and elegant.
